From raising awareness to engagement

SXS aims to open a dialogue with a broad public, following a dual strategy:

1.     to raise awareness about space activities in Switzerland
by supporting and organizing public events in all parts of Switzerland, both in urban and rural areas, where people and space professionals can meet, interact and learn from each other.

2.     to create opportunities for long-term engagement with space topics
by establishing several space-related Open Science Clubs for children and adults to pursue space activities over an extended period of time – space as a hobby just like music or sports!

The Planet-Club

KIDS

Some children are fascinated by space at a very young age. However, many parents don’t feel competent to support them adequately and answer their thousands of questions. The Planet-Club invites children from 2nd to 4th grade to pursue space-themed activities from tinkering to observation and learn about opportunities and limits of using models to understand the world. Contents are based on existing space missions, the technologies involved and the data gathered.
